Currently I'm quite interested in the Plague and it's religious attachments. This is an illustration, first of all, of a Plague Doctor and his usual doings when a plague hits his area of town and he is called.
Plague doctors go about the city, basically cleaning it of the plague. they can do this by dragging the dead bodies away in large carts, lased with incense and herbs, as well as helping the dead die, and doing whatever else they do...
obviously I'm not sure of what EXACTLY they do, but only the basics.
in this illustration, I'm showing a creature...not a doctor. a creature that is tall with an omitting power, fear that seems to run from it, and a physical power that no one really cares to know more of.

SIBLINGS
This piece gives a strong line of hope to the viewer, and the characters.
the siblings are cross dressing- girl as boy, and boy as girl. what is shown are two socially-abused siblings that love each other deeper then the common eye can see, building each others hope and courage up...to the point that one would see now. The Final Product; the piece of art.
there is strength, hope, and a sense of confusion and loss in this piece, which reflects their life-long story of struggle and hardened hope for social acceptance.

UNTITLED PHOTO/MIXED MEDIA COLLEGE
Looking messy and gaped, this piece still flows well and evenly throughout. the colors are simple and limited, which complements on the very radical lines, shapes and forms on this piece.
It gives off the idea of energy, and easy-flow of such. Energy for creation and designing, and creation for anew.
Creation mainly in art, i would say- but also in a new life and new ideas.

OWL- SKATEBOARD
My intent for this piece is to conduct fear.
Inspired from the movie "FOURTH KIND", it gave me this scene of helpless weakness...though this piece's intentions are not to such an extreme, it's black and white choppy tone still doesn't give off a happy-go-lucky vibe.
It's angle, black eyes, chopped feathers and distant gradations from black to white, white to black is an obvious clue to a darker inspiration, and a darker intent.

MEN OF TOUNGES- SKATEBOARD
This piece was mainly a practice and development piece for my own skills, working on a different type of a canvas layout; very horizontal.
though as such, there is more of a childish tone to this piece. it feels unfinished, "creative?", and wanting more. that said, I'm still attached to the idea that I can develop greatly from this.
it turns into an inspiration.
that is this piece.

SHE WOLF
Silence.
This entire piece is developed around the notion of silence. whether it be metaphorically, with sound, objects, placement or whatever one would indicate to themselves- it's purpose is of caution and mute.
the point is of History as well.
While staring at this piece, I find it secretively telling a story or future and past. What was the wolf doing before? what will she do after? It pulls to a unfinished conclusion, or a finished conclusion of the tradition that time never stops.

YELLOW BOAT
This piece is inspired by the play write and book, Yellow Boat, about a child with aids and the struggle and hopes he and his father share together.
knowing this, I did more re-search as to what the plays attitude and theme was, as well as its director's style.
String (in the likes of long lengthy fabrics, yarn, thread, and so forth), Yellow Boats, crayons, abstract imagination, and clear cloudless skies were the main visual themes in this play as well as the color Yellow as the main color.
i decided to only use the visual aspects of the literal Yellow Boat, and thread. the background is of blue skies- yet not cloudless and not a one solid blue. though in the play there is only ONE Yellow Boat, I wanted to put in more then one (three) boat. this in itself resembles how true this story is...and how common, with so many other children and families. thus, more then one boat symbolizes more then one alike story.
these elements are shown on a four-pieced canvas (four separate pieces, attached into one single piece), sewn together by white thread, or flaws.
the main Yellow Boat is in the center of the final canvas...but yet placed so so that it is not in the MIDDLE of each and every piece of paper. the last two are far smaller then the main boat...located to the bottom left, and top right.
all boats have an angle to them, furthering the interest of the eye.
How I wanted to show this image was by mixed media. The mediums chosen were mainly watercolor, fallowed by acrylic paint (only white and black) and thread. the actual thread isn't used to show that the boats are all being held up by THREAD...but is used to attached the canvases. the actual thread would be drawn on by my custom paintbrush (made by my own hair, tape, and a toothpick.).
-----------------------------------------
surprisingly this is one of the hardest, longest pieces I have ever done. though I have worked on larger canvases with far more elements then those chosen here...It took far more brainstorming, re-searching, studying, reading and deciding then that of my usual casual way of doing final pieces.
I have never drawn a boat- or anything at this angle- before, where it's not simply just PUT DOWN on paper or by memory-measurements. most of my studying was of measurements, boats, colors, angles, measurements, length, scale, and measurements. Have I mentioned measurements?
I've done several several ruff drafts of this piece before I finally decided to start on my finally canvased piece.
I would consider this one, single piece, my first ever professional piece of artwork.
